An energetic band from Melbourne, The Cherry Dolls, are a band who aren’t afraid to bounce around different genres.

These Dolls are still relatively young in the musical world, but that hasn’t stopped them from taking off. They’ve played a ton of shows since forming in March of 2014, and the electricity they put into the shows is amazing! They’ve become quite the regular at the Ding Dong Lounge and the crowd continue to ask for more.

If you haven’t heard of The Cherry Dolls, prepare to get your cherry popped in a way you’ll never forget!

This video is from their first ever live show (when they were still a 4 piece), and they absolutely kill it. Give that a watch and then the rest of this review is going to make a shit load more sense. The band’s front-man Joshua Aubry puts so much into his shows and really does have a genuine rock-star vibe surrounding him, from his fashion selection to the sound that he throws into the mic, it all just works.

Throw on Wasted Pearls (the first single released by The Cherry Dolls) and you’ll struggle not to have a bit of a dance, it takes a mere 5 seconds before you become hooked on the sound, when Aubry throws down the first rockstar scream! The retro sound flows through this song like the electricity flows through Aubry’s blood!

If you’re still hooked on the vibe of The Cherry Dolls, then put on their second single Stars Above and get a different sound to their debut single. This song is unique and picks up a sort of Black Sabbath/Led Zeppelin type of really heavy rock‘n’roll song.

Ain’t Got No Soul, has an incredible bass to kick the song of, and as usual Aubry kills it with his vocals, Dylan Jones jumped on to the production team of the film clip for this way and prepare to have your mind blown away, it’s a psychedelic clip ready to get inside your brain.. This one has influences from Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones.

Then their latest release come out with an incredible music video to go along with it. Crystal Pistol is a new sound that really can only be described as their own. It’s a fresh air of something new and not only is the sound rocking, but the music video that come with it, is also fun and exciting to watch.

The Cherry Dolls are only getting started but that’s not stopping them from going all out. Recording an EP in the coming week, as well as playing at Farmer and the Owl with acts such as DZ Deathrays, Bass Drum Of Death (US) and PH Fat (South Africa).

If you’re keen to learn more about this up and coming band then check them out on facebook or come back to Crtive. tomorrow and read the interview I had with them!

For now, I’m out.
