I recently caught up with Dune Rats to talk about heaps of stuff you may or may not care about. There’s only one way to find out though, right?

You guys released your self titled record back in June last year. How do you think that record was received worldwide?
Probably more so in Australia but we’re touring around Europe/ UK now and people are taking to it cool.

From your experience so far, what is your favourite place to tour/play?
South Africa was sick! Unpredictable as fuck and awesome. It surprised us heaps, the country and the people.

Dune Rats just finished up a run of shows in Australia as a part of St Jermome’s Laneway Festival alongside some stellar artists such as Mac DeMarco, Flight Facilities, Royal Blood, POND and many others. What was it like sharing the stage with such well known artists as a part of one of Australia’s most well known festivals?
It was unreal. The first day felt like the first day of school but meeting everyone was awesome and nice and the crowds were mad.

If you were able to tour with any 4 bands/artists you wanted, who would you choose?
Violent Soho, Ratking, new formed Blink 182 and Dz Deathrays who took us on our first tour ever.

You guys are currently on tour in Europe with The Subways, how have the shows been over there?
The subways are the nicest dudes ever, the shows have been huge and the cities have been nice as fuck.

Circle back to the Sexy Beach EP, are you still proud of that as your debut release?
Fuck yeah, we were just having fun and didn’t expect anything to happen.

Dune Rats are obviously very well known for drinking & smoking yourselves into the ground, have you got any funny stories you can share?
The funny thing is we’re all straight edge.

Now, Dunies tatts. When did they start happening and what do you think of them?
They started when we got Dunies tatts in South Africa on tour, then we put a picture of our three tatts as a tour poster and they started popping up everywhere. It’s cool they rub off.

What can we expect from Dune Rats in 2015?
Really mad shit

This is something we do with each interview:
Festival or headline show? It depends what festival and what show.
Stagedive or singalong? Both
Beers or buds? Both
Sharks with lazers or bears with rocket launchers? Sharks with lasers

Thanks mate!
