Jesse Forde gave us his thoughts about the sound of Henry Green on Monday and to follow on from that I’ve got an interview for you!

How does it feel to be 19 and yet becoming so well known around the world?
It’s strange. I’m still living in Malmesbury, working… so the whole thing is a bit strange. It’s exciting, but at the same time, I know I’ve got a long way to go and lots of things I want to achieve. But seeing people enjoy the music I’m making is so satisfying and drives me to make more and more.

Which of your songs are you most proud of?
There is something I really enjoy about “You” It started off with the vocal loop, originally from an electro track I made a couple of years earlier, and then the main melody formed pretty quickly after. I think the verses are pretty poetic, but the chorus is so simple… And I like that. And “Barcelona“. It was written one morning when I was late for work. I started playing the chord progression and the lyrics came straight away… Although I had to write the second verse in the stock room at work!

Do you have musical influences or idols? Who are you listening to right now?
Massively into Jamie XX’s new album at the moment. It’s a really interesting listen. I’m mainly just catching up on new releases, but my main playlist is a mixture of electronic, soul, classical and stuff. I’m into loads of different music. I really enjoy the electronic side of music, developing new sounds and manipulating old sounds. But I try to find the balance between those electronics and the actual song. Some of my tracks start with a beat or a sample, but others are written just sat with my guitar.

If you could collaborate with anybody, who would it be?
It’s a tough one. I’d love to jam with Chet Faker or something. But then again, working on something sample based with someone like Gold Panda or Bonobo would be cool.

You’re just breaking into the scene. Where does it go from here?
I’d love to tour more. We went out to Europe with Nick Mulvey for a few dates. It was amazing. Playing to fresh ears but also, meeting people who had listened before. I’m desperate to sharpen up a few of the new tracks in the studio to, get some new material out.

You’re stranded on an island and you can only bring 3 things, what would they be?
Music, gin and Nature Valley bars (I don’t know if you have them in Australia, but they’re these amazing cereal bars)
