If you know anything about me, you’re probably surprised I didn’t make a post about the Hottest 100 earlier.
So, here it is. My thoughts on the countdown and the songs I voted for.

- Chet Faker – (Lover) You Don’t Treat Me No Good {Like A Version 2014} | 21 in Countdown
- Bring Me The Horizon – Drown | 68 in Countdown
- Allday – Right Now | 65 in Countdown
- Amity Affliction, The – Pittsburgh | 22 in Countdown
Peking Duk was in no way a surprise that they made it so High (ha.) in the countdown. According to J Play, the single had been played more than 200 times throughout 2014. This is why the betting folk probably had their money on Peking Duk to take out number one.
In the end, I’m not overly surprised Trophy Eyes didn’t make it into the countdown, it would’ve been sick for them to pop up somewhere (maybe even in the 101-200 list), unfortunately though they didn’t.
Chet Faker, is it at all a surprise? I don’t really need to write about him or his beard but… I will. Faker continues to sell out shows around the world. LA Nokia Theatre show sold out in 30 minutes. Sold out 3 shows in Melbourne before releasing another 2 sell-out shows. Australia (and now the world) are really digging the sound he produces and I’m stoked in made Number. #fucktswift
BMTH were always going to place, with their casual 5,553,756 Facebook following. It usually helps releasing a song towards the end of the year too. One of the most exciting things about Bring Me, is that they are constantly changing their sound.
After releasing Startup Cult in July of last year, Allday took a week to hit Number 3 in the ARIA’s top 50 album charts. His sound, Soft Grunge Love Rap, is really easy to listen to and enjoy and I’m stoked he made it into the Hottest 100 countdown.
And finally, Amity Affliction. Without an absolute doubt, any Australian that listens to any kind of Core, would have listened to Amity at some point in their music listening life. They have become one of the most well known hardcore bands in Australia, and are an inspiration to many young bands.
Overal, I was thrilled with the Hottest 100, and the tunes I heard over a few cold cans on Australia Day. Let me know who you voted for and your thoughts on the countdown below.
