Valerio D’Ospina was born in Taranto, Italy in 1980. He was first introduced into the art world in July, 1999 where he received an artistic diploma from Liceo Artistico Statale. In November of the same year he moved to Florence, Italy to further his artistic studies.

The Italian-born artist is able to convey a truly extraordinary amount of energy in his executed cityscapes and industrial pieces. Growing up in Italy, D’Ospina had endless access to art fairs and museums. You can see his appreciation of classic approaches shine through his artworks. But yet, still has a unique and original style.

His oil paintings range from scenes that are beautiful cities to large industries. There’s a misty New York morning captured from above. Different sets of blurred railway tracks. A ship being built. Trains coming straight for him. But he also does the occasional portrait. No matter what the subject matter is, these work of arts are outstanding and you really need to check this out!

Consistent throughout his works are a range of distinct streaks, splatters and scratches. When combined, they reveal a rich oil painting that has movement and a life of it’s own.

The blurred movement in these works has been described as having a slight hypnotic effect. (via Artist A Day)
